According to newly released census data Black voter turnout during the 2022 national midterm election cycle dropped by nearly 10 percentage points.

Additionally, there was 7 point decline in turnout of young voters that are under 40 years old.
This revelation came during what was touted by both parties as the most important elections in our era, despite that, no significant polling data was disclosed by either party.
So why are young Black American voters declining to participate in elections?
Well in the Daily’s previous article “Black Voter’s Revenge” which was published in our catalog over 2 years ago explained in detail why Black voters, particularity young Black voters are not just disengaging from one party or the other, but instead opting to make both parties viable options for themselves by pushing for uniformed policies across the aisle.
Just last year our publication released piece titled “Its Reparations Stupid”, explaining in clear detail Black voter reasoning from pulling back from voting, the one singular reason being reparations for Freedmen or Foundational Black Americans.
However the Democratic party, which a vast majority of register Black voters usually cast their ballots for, with margins of over 85% of eligible Black voters supporting the party over their Republican or third party counterparts, has consistently declined to endorse a national of slew of state instituted cash compensation plan for Freedman.
In fact while those on the right such as flailing presidential candidates like Ron Desantis or Vivek Ramaswamy regularly rudely ostracize the concept of reparations for Freedmen despite its historical precedent, those on the left have not proven to be any better. Just earlier this year California Gov. Gavin Newsome (D-Cal) who is slated to debate Ron Desantis on nationally syndicated television in the coming weeks and is leader of the largest democratic state in the nation stated that he would not sign any plan for Freedman that involved cash compensation.
Black Americans have been signaling to both parties for now the better half of a decade on what their issues are, and they not only have been ignored, they’ve been ridiculed with mockery holidays on hip hop passed in congress, along with bills made to secure Black people’s “hair rights”, and more funding to white supremacist terrorist cells masquerading as law enforcement apparatuses.
Its no surprise that the Democrat and Republicans most likely voters are older Americans with more of their lives behind them than in front of them.
Unfortunately both parties may find themselves on life support if they cannot find a way to constructively act on the policy recommendations set by the Black grassroots who’ve made their top priority– financial security specifically for Freedman.
Experts note that with a measly 40% drop in Black voter turnout that the Democrats would never reach a majority in either chambers let alone the white house or supreme court.
Black Americans have not budged on reparations, and it appears that is a issue that will be floating in the political atmosphere for the foreseeable future.
