Former President Barack Obama made an appearance last week where he spoke to Black campaign workers representing the Kamala Harris camp.

Obama has campaigned for 3 other candidates in the last 5 years. Obama campaigned for Jon Ossoff, Stacey Abrams and for ‘blackface’ Ralph Northam. Both Ossoff and Abrams lost while Northam narrowly won but was forced to step down following his minstrel scandals.

Now with Obama campaigning for Harris in what will undoubtedly be a tight contest, critics are starting to wonder if the former president’s charm is waning.

Obama campaigned hard in 2016 for Hillary Clinton where he also browbeat Black voters by saying that if they didn’t vote that they weren’t going to be able to “secure his legacy” and that the country would supposedly be destroyed if Trump won.

But none of Obama’s premonitions came true.

However, Obama did very well for himself in those years. He gained partial ownership of the African-NBA league, he signed a multi-million-dollar production deal with Netflix, and his daughter made a film that headlined at the Sundance film festival.

In that same time period, Black America continued to suffer the injustices inflicted by white supremacy, but Obama and his family did well for themselves.

Obama has come across as completely out of touch with the everyday Black Americans who aren’t millionaires, and with only 2 weeks before election day, his timing couldn’t have been worse.

Kamala Harris already has a uphill battle to the white house, but bringing out Obama doesn’t seem like the best plan of action.

The community as a whole soured on Obama nearly a decade ago, and he didn’t seem to care.

Black America owes the Obama’s nothing. The community pleaded for him and Eric Holder to do something, anything about the white supremacist attacking Black children like Trayvon Martin or Tamir Rice, and in response, Obama allowed Democratic governors to send in the national guard to shoot rubber bullets at BLM demonstrators

Even if Barack Obama did actually do attempt to use his justice department to prosecute the wall street bankers who did the most damage to the Black community leading up to the 2008 housing crisis (which he did not) it would mean nothing to Black voters since he abandoned the constituency the day he got into office.

The Black community already lost Darren Seals and many more activist who Obama ignored and ridiculed.

Darren Seals

There’s no amount of pleading that Mr. Obama can do to write his wrongs or earn back the trust of the community that he once called his own.
