A routine Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid got out of control as agents attempted to serve warrants in the middle of a LA shopping district. 

Local residents made human barricades to stop agents from apprehending illegal residents. Agents were reportedly assaulted, while several law enforcement personnel  in the area confirmed that trash was thrown at them, and they were threatened by locals as well.

President Trump has deployed 2,000 national guard troops in response to the violence.

LA law enforcement reported that Hispanic residents were throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails. In response, authorities used pepper spray, rubber bullets and smoke bombs to subdue the crowd.

The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has reportedly arrested 118 illegal immigrants in the Los Angeles area this week, including five they say are gang members.

The US 101 highway is closed due to protestors throwing Molotov cocktails and garbage on passing vehicles, authorities report.

Critics have noted the tepid response from authorities during this crisis in comparison to the government’s past responses to mostly peaceful Black American protesters who were confronted with local police’s LRAD equipped armored vehicles, trained snipers, local militias, and drone strikes.
