US activist and former member of the Black Panther party and Black Liberation Front, Assata Shakur has transitioned. After decades of fighting international white supremacy and facism, Shakur passed away in her sleep surrounded by family and communtiy.

Shakur was falsely accused of killing a state trooper, despite evidence pointing to the situation being a set up by fedearal authorties, a common practice used by the white supremacist in the 60’s and even to this day.
“I was convicted by—I don’t even want to call it a trial, it was lynching, by an all-white jury,” Shakur told BET in 2001. “I had nothing but contempt for the system of justice under which I was tried.”
Shakur is widely believed to be innocent and reappeared in Cuba in 1984 where she was granted asylum by former president Fidel Castro.
Shakur is survived by her daughter Kakuya Shakur, who wrote on Facebook: “Words cannot describe the depth of loss that I am feeling at this time.”

Shakur outlasted all of her enemies, and raised an entire generation of Black youth to oppose the wicked forces of white supremacy.
Let us send prayers and funds to her family. Most importantly, let us remember that our eternal struggle is a blood vendetta; that our fight for justice is never over.
