Despite the cooling relationship, leaders in Dhaka have emphasized that they do not want permanently hostile ties with their largest neighbor. Both governments have signaled interest in preventing a full diplomatic rupture, but relations remain fragile as South Asia watches whether cooperation or further confrontation will define the next phase of Bangladesh–India relations.
