There has been extensive controversy, fan/media criticism, and narrative around how Browns HC Kevin Stefanski has handled Shedeur Sanders this season, which could lead to pressure on the coach from ownership, fans, or media.
Stefanski’s refusal to play Shedeur, especially early in the season led to his entire staff’s downfall.
Stefanski replaced Sanders early in the season in favor of Tyler Huntley despite Sanders’ strong performance, leading to a fan uproar, and allegations of sabotaging.
Critics note that benching a highly drafted quarterback (even a mid round) in key moments can stunt development and frustrate fans, especially when the team is already struggling. Even if a team is trying to get better draft positioning.
Despite all of this the Browns managed to beat the playoff-birthed Pittsburgh Steelers led by Aaron Rodgers and Mike Tomlin, with the your boy, Sanders at the QB helm– and he did not dissapoint.
Shedeur Sanders finished the Browns’ December 27, 2025 win over the Steelers with an efficient but uneven stat line, completing 17 of 23 passes for 186 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions, while adding 20 rushing yards on four carries. He threw the game’s only offensive touchdown—a 28-yard strike—and managed the offense well enough to secure a low-scoring 13–6 victory, though the two picks highlighted ongoing ball-security concerns even in a winning effort.
