Oh its fake award season.
And that means we all “get” to or more likely are forced to be subjected to the phony praise that the white media places on its handpicked sellouts.
Year after year, “award” shows like the Oscars that were made up by racists like Louis Mayer who produced movies mocking Black people and praising the Klan, are somehow presented like they actually are real award shows based off of merit instead of the fake ceremonies crowning per-selected industry favorites that we all recognize them to be.
Everyone knows that the best movie of the year and the one to dominate the social zeitgeist was Sinners. Yet somehow it didn’t win many awards this season. Gee, one would think that men who run these perverted award shows are the same white supremacist producing the gutter tripe that’s ruined media.
But this isn’t about them, it’s about us. We’re not supposed to be watching white award shows, not only because they’re lame, but also because we already have a slew of Black award shows that are actually based on skill and merit.
We don’t give media that doesn’t gratify us the time of day. And we don’t entertain award ceremonies that we don’t control because we don’t favor nepotism and favoritism in Black creator spaces. We value actual creativity, hard work, and ethic, which is a far cry from our Hollywood counterparts.
And yes Black artists do get snubbed at these white-owned award shows in industries we dominate, but that says more about us seeking their validation than anything else. We already know that we’re more profitable, the numbers prove it, but now its time for us to embrace being apart from the pack.
We’re successes on a international scale and our production studios in the movie and music industries reflect that.
If Black Americans want to see themselves awarded more, then we should take time to award each other and set up more Black owned ceremonies to lavish up and coming Black talent with praise.
Its not rocket science, that’s Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson ‘s job.
