Anime fans, sharpen those imaginary katanas. There’s a new action project prowling through Kickstarter, and this particular tiger apparently has no intention of playing nice.
Stellar Haze: White Tiger, an independent animation project from Australian creator Eric Terlato, is promising a bloody adventure through the dystopian streets of Melbourne.
At the center of the story is Sebastian Sugo, better known as the White Tiger, a mysterious fighter pursuing redemption through a world where justice apparently comes with a generous helping of violence.
And frankly, we’re intrigued.
A White Tiger With Something to Prove
The premise has all the ingredients for a deliciously chaotic action series: a troubled protagonist, a futuristic urban setting, brutal confrontations, and a redemption arc.
Sebastian isn’t simply wandering Melbourne looking for trouble. The project’s official description places his quest for redemption at the heart of the story, suggesting that his violent journey could involve confronting the consequences of his past.
For anime enthusiasts who appreciate morally complicated protagonists and stylish action, that’s a promising foundation.
The setting is another intriguing feature. Rather than revisiting the familiar streets of Tokyo or Osaka, Stellar Haze takes its dystopian ambitions to Melbourne, giving the project an Australian identity.
Independent Animation Needs Its Own Heroes
Anime-inspired animation has become an increasingly international creative movement, with independent artists producing original stories outside Japan’s established studio system.
Stellar Haze: White Tiger is entering that arena through crowdfunding.
The campaign launched November 1, 2026, with a funding goal of A$35,000 and a scheduled December 1 conclusion.
That gives supporters a limited window to help bring Terlato’s vision closer to production.
Of course, Kickstarter funding isn’t a guarantee that a project will be completed. Prospective backers should examine the campaign’s production plans, rewards, and risks before pledging.
Could White Tiger Become an Indie Anime Favorite?
It’s far too early to crown Sebastian Sugo the next great action protagonist. The project still has to prove itself through its animation, storytelling, and execution.
But the ingredients are certainly there.
A redemption-seeking fighter carving his way through a dystopian Australian city? That’s exactly the kind of premise that can catch the attention of action-anime fans hungry for something outside the usual franchise machine.
Now comes the difficult part: turning that premise into a finished animated production.
White Tiger has entered the arena. Whether he earns his stripes is up to the creators and the fans willing to support them.
