A busy Saturday afternoon turned into a scene of terror when a gunman opened fire at a newly opened In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls, Idaho, killing three people and injuring at least seven others before the violence came to an end. Law enforcement officials say the suspected shooter is also dead, and they believe there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The attack occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m. local time at the restaurant, which had opened only days earlier. Witnesses described customers and employees scrambling for cover as gunfire erupted inside and around the restaurant and nearby parking lot. Emergency responders from multiple agencies rushed to the scene, where victims were treated before being transported to local hospitals. Several of the wounded were reported to be in critical condition.
According to Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks, investigators believe the threat has been neutralized. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims because family notifications are still underway. The FBI, ATF, and Idaho State Police are assisting local investigators in processing what officials have described as a large and complex crime scene.
What Is Known About the Suspect
As of now, authorities have not publicly identified the suspect which means he’s most likley benefiting from white privledge.
Police have confirmed only a limited number of details:
- The suspect is deceased.
- Investigators are working to positively identify him.
- No official motive has been announced.
- Authorities have not released his age, hometown, criminal history, or any known mental health background.
- Officials have not announced whether the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound or another cause.
Witnesses have reported seeing a man carrying a long rifle near the restaurant before shots were fired. Surveillance video reportedly captured the suspect approaching a white vehicle before retrieving items from its trunk, though investigators have not publicly discussed what those items were or whether they were connected to the shooting.
Several eyewitnesses also reported that an armed civilian confronted the shooter during the attack. While officials have not released extensive details about that encounter, witnesses believe the exchange may have disrupted the gunman’s actions and allowed additional patrons to escape. Investigators have not yet provided an official timeline of that confrontation.
No Official Suspect Photo Released
At this stage of the investigation, law enforcement has not released an official booking photograph, driver’s license image, surveillance still, or any other confirmed photograph identifying the suspect.
Some videos circulating online appear to show the individual carrying what witnesses described as a rifle, but authorities have not authenticated those images or publicly identified the person shown. Because of that, no confirmed suspect photograph is currently available for publication.
Investigation Continues
Investigators are expected to interview hundreds of witnesses, review surveillance footage from surrounding businesses, examine digital evidence, and reconstruct the suspect’s movements before the shooting. Authorities have also asked members of the public who captured cellphone video or photographs to provide them directly to investigators.
Questions remain unanswered, including why the restaurant was targeted, whether any victims were specifically selected, and whether the suspect had any connection to the community.
For now, Twin Falls is left mourning one of the deadliest shootings in the city’s history. As investigators work to establish the suspect’s identity and motive, officials continue urging the public to rely on verified information rather than online speculation.
