The high-profile trial of white nationalist leader Jake Lang took a disturbing turn this week when Lang allegedly issued death threats against activist Karmelo Anthony and his family in open court. Legal experts warn that Lang could face additional criminal charges for intimidation and witness tampering, compounding his already severe legal troubles.

The threats reportedly occurred during Lang’s trial related to his role in a violent White Pride rally in Dallas, where Anthony, a prominent anti-racist organizer, was assaulted. According to witnesses, Lang leaned forward during a recess and muttered to Anthony, “You and your kids are dead.” The exchange was overheard by bailiffs, who immediately reported it to the presiding judge.
Lang could be charged under Texas Penal Code § 36.05 (tampering with a witness) or § 22.07 (terroristic threats), both felonies carrying penalties of up to 10 years in prison. Given Lang’s history of extremist violence, prosecutors may also argue for enhanced sentencing under hate crime statutes.
Anthony, who has faced repeated harassment from Lang’s supporters, confirmed the incident to reporters. “This isn’t just about me, it’s about anyone who stands up to these people,” he said.
Legal analyst Rebecca Torres noted that judges take courtroom threats “extremely seriously,” especially in politically charged cases. “If corroborated, this could land Lang in solitary confinement pending trial,” she said.
As the case proceeds, Lang’s attorneys have declined to comment on the allegations. Meanwhile, Anthony’s legal team is exploring a protective order.
For now, the incident underscores the volatile tensions surrounding Lang’s trial—and the potential consequences of his escalating rhetoric.
