Genshin Impact has conquered another unlikely frontier: the ice cream counter.

The new Genshin Impact x Baskin-Robbins Japan collaboration officially launched September 8, and demand has already overwhelmed parts of the promotion. Baskin-Robbins Japan, which operates under the familiar “31 Ice Cream” branding in the country, says its special Genshin Impact Ice Cream Set has sold out at some locations after purchases exceeded expectations.

The collaboration runs through October 6, 2026, although participating products and bonuses are available only while supplies last. The campaign, dubbed “Sweet Ice Cream Time,” combines limited-edition desserts with collectible merchandise and even digital rewards for Genshin players.

Ice Cream Meets Teyvat

One of the centerpiece products is the Genshin Impact Ice Cream Set, which allows customers to choose four ice creams and includes collectible acrylic stands featuring Flins and Linnea. The package also includes a background card that can be placed behind the characters for display.

Another product, the Fresh Pack Mini, comes in special Genshin packaging and includes acrylic keychains featuring Illuga, Flins, Linnea and Odette. Baskin-Robbins priced that package at ¥1,300.

The collaboration isn’t limited to physical collectibles, either. Certain promotional products contain codes that unlock exclusive in-game items, including the Sweet Ice Cream Wagon furnishing and Sweet Ice Cream Set food item. That connection between the physical purchase and Genshin’s digital world gives players another reason to chase the promotion before supplies disappear.

Demand Was Huge Before Launch

The sellouts aren’t particularly surprising considering the traffic surrounding the campaign.

Japanese gaming outlet Dengeki Online reported extraordinary demand during the advance-order period. At one point, more than 100,000 people were reportedly waiting to access Baskin-Robbins’ mobile-order system, with an estimated wait of roughly three hours to reach the ordering page.

Baskin-Robbins had already placed purchasing restrictions on the promotion. From August 28 through September 13, customers are limited to a combined total of two Genshin Ice Cream Sets or Fresh Pack Minis per transaction, regardless of type.

Even those restrictions haven’t stopped some stores from burning through their inventory.

More Genshin Collectibles Are Coming

Fans who missed the first wave still have other promotional items to hunt.

Starting September 12, customers can receive one randomly selected collaboration sticker from seven designs while supplies last. Baskin-Robbins plans to distribute 310,000 stickers nationwide.

Another giveaway begins September 28, timed to Genshin Impact’s sixth anniversary. Eligible purchases can receive a collaboration-designed pick sheet, with only 31,000 available across Japan.

The combination of limited quantities, exclusive artwork, physical collectibles and in-game rewards has turned what could have been a routine restaurant crossover into a miniature Genshin merchandise event.

And the speed of the sellouts illustrates just how valuable these collaborations have become. Genshin Impact isn’t merely putting characters on an ice cream box. HoYoverse and Baskin-Robbins have built a promotion where the dessert is only one piece of the attraction.

For collectors, the real question may no longer be which flavor to order.

It’s whether there’s anything left when they reach the counter.
